Ahahahahahahaahahaha. The guy with the eyepatch is trying to soothe the woman having veeeeery fake labor pains. Anyway-

Went to my interview for beauty school today.

The school itself isn't very fancy. As in, we don't think anything has been done to the school since the sixties. Unless you count adding computers and sweeping the floors. Still, the one word my mother and I would use to describe the environment is "compassionate."

The people are nutty, but I figured they would be. But the awesome thing is that they REALLY care about their students. The past few years they've had a 100 percent success rate of their students passing the board exam. They take the students out on field trips to talk to people already in the business, and on job shadows as well. Mr. Fournier said that those are times when his students are usually offered jobs.

Hahahahaha, and even though he kept referring to the girls as "ladies," he made onnnne little slip up, but since he's old and senile, I forgive him... and laugh hysterically as I think about it:

"Lauren! Get one of the girls to give these ladies a tour, and make sure it's a girl who's been here a while, I don't want one of them bimbos."

I lurve him.

Another priceless moment was while we were in the clinic with Lauren. She asked this woman who was styling a black girls hair to give me a tour, and the black chick pipes up:

"Yo! I've been here long enough! Why don't you ever ask me to give no tours???"
Lauren: "And this is Dominque, she's very shy."
Dominique: "Welcome to our school! This is it! It ain't fancy, it ain't much, but it's ours!"

I reallllly hope I can be friends with her. She seems like a handful, but also a lot of fun. The girl who gave me the tour, Kara was super nice too and told me that when I started she'd introduce me to all her friends. I've never felt so welcomed anywhere.

So I start July 8th. I'm glad I ended up going sooner rather than later because it will be a smaller group and I'll have more opportunites to get close to my classmates.

Oh! And there's a competition in August! I'll probably go for it because even the newest students are encouraged to try it. Kara said that all the July students last year went for it. I can't decide whether I should go for a hair style or a set of nails... but the nails might be easier since I'm okay at painting anyway.

Finally, I've got two free haircuts there Even if they are by students/instructors. I'm thinking of getting extensions because Nobu said he misses my long hair.

That's about it! I'm SOOOOO effing excited!
